General Motors FM-2 Wildcat of VC36, U.S.S Core, April 1944 in two tone Atlantic Anti-Submarine Warfare camouflage.
The FM2 was a lightened, overpowered version of the F-4F. Its new engine and propellors made it almsot an equel to F6Fs. Widely used from 1943, it was a great help for the USMC, the Navy and the FAA who used them on escort carriers, allowing the Corsairs and Hellcats to be free for massive attacks on Japan in the Pacific. In the Atlantic, FM2s of the FAA and US Navy escorted convoys and were used for Anti-Submarine missions.
